Trim Beams

Cuts a lattice at the surface of a Solid. A beam that crosses the surface is shortened to the crossing point instead of being dropped, so the lattice ends flush with the Solid (Prune Beams with its Region test, by contrast, keeps or drops whole beams). Each beam keeps its thickness.

Inputs

Lattice Lattice

The lattice to cut. Each beam keeps its thickness; a Voronoi lattice keeps its cells.

Takes: any block that gives Lattice (14 blocks)
Domain Solid

The Solid the lattice is cut against.

Takes: any block that gives Solid (102 blocks)
Keep Choice

Keep the part inside the Solid or the part outside it.

Feature tolerance Number

Accuracy of the cut in mm: crossing points are found to within this, and a smaller value scans each beam more finely.

Rounded edges Yes/No

Keep the beams' round end caps at the cut; they can then reach up to one beam radius past the Solid. Off by default (a flat cut).

Output

Lattice

Used by: any block that takes Lattice (98 blocks)

Properties

Values the block gives besides its output. The editor lists them under Properties, and an input can read one by reference.

Beams List of Beam

Every beam, each with its own properties.

Solid Solid

All the thickened beams merged into one Solid; beams with no thickness yet are the distance to their segments.

List List of Lattice

This lattice in a Lattice List of one.

BeamGraph Beam Graph

The beams, vertices and thicknesses, without the lattice around them.

Graph Lattice

The beams and vertices alone, with no thickness.

BoundingBox Bounding Box

The axis-aligned extent of the beams' vertices.

EdgeCount Number

How many beams the lattice has.

LineSegments List of Curve

Each beam as a line segment.

VertexCount Number

How many vertices the lattice has.

VertexValencies List of Number

For each vertex, the number of beams that end there.

Vertices List of Point

The position of every vertex.
