Cross Section

Cuts a Solid with a plane and returns the cut face as a profile. The profile's shape is exact; its drawn outline is traced at the minimum feature size, and when the cut has several loops only the longest is drawn.

Inputs

Input Solid

The Solid to cut.

Takes: any block that gives Solid (102 blocks)
Plane Solid

The cutting plane. Defaults to the world XY plane.

Takes: any block that gives Solid (102 blocks)
Min feature size Number

Smallest detail in mm the traced outline should show. 0 picks 1 % of the section's width.

Output

Profile

Used by: Join Profiles, Profile Cut, Loft, Profile Extrusion, Profile Revolution, Profile Sweep, Surface Area

Properties

Values the block gives besides its output. The editor lists them under Properties, and an input can read one by reference.

Solid Solid

The flat region as a zero-thickness Solid, the zero set of its distance field.

BoundingBox Bounding Box

The axis-aligned extent of the profile.

DistanceToExtrusion Number

Distance to the region extruded without end along the plane normal (an infinite prism).

DistanceToRegion Number

Distance to the flat region itself, with no extrusion.

Plane Plane

The plane the profile is drawn on, with its origin, normal and frame.

Polycurves List of Curve

The closed loops that bound the region.
